Nissa
by Bethany Lopez
Publication: April 23rd 2013
Genre: YA Contemporary Fantasy

Synopsis:
At 900 years old, Nissa is finally ready to follow her mother's path and become the best Fairy Godmother she can. She’s not thrilled when her first assignment turns out to be a teenage human girl with self-esteem issues, but she knows she has to start somewhere. Her  assignment has dealt with bullies since her freshman year and they haven’t let up. If Nissa can’t help her regain her self-confidence her  future is bleak.

To complicate matters Nissa experiences all the signs that she's met the being fated for her. This impossibility distracts her from her purpose. After all, fairies and humans aren't meant for each other. How can her heart believe otherwise? Can Nissa successfully complete her first assignment as a Fairy Godmother? Will the fates allow Nissa and Levi to be together? And even if they do, will Levi believe Nissa once she reveals the truth?

I'm only 900 years old, which is relatively young for a fairy godmother, equivalent to an eighteen year old human.

This book was a really light and fun read . I haven't read much about fairies but this one in the summary I read about a Fairy Godmother made me jump at the opportunity to read it. And how gorgeous is that cover!? BEAUTIFUL!!  I have wanted to read this book since I did the cover reveal for it! And I was not disappointed at all!

Nissa is about a 900 year old fairy named Nissa. She decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a Fairy Godparent. After surviving fairy training, Nissa is finally ready to complete her first assignment, a teenage girl named Vicky who is being bullied and feels really crappy about herself. Nissa thinks this assignment is a piece of cake and doesn't understand why they would give her such and easy task. UNTIL she meets Vicky's older brother, Levi and  immediately, Nissa falls head over heals for Levi. You know all those things that her mom felt for her dad when they meet - all of those fairy signs that they feel when they meet their mates. Yep and Levi wasn't even a  fairy. :)   And no fairy has ever been Fated to be with a human before. Knowing in her heart the Levi is the one she's meant to be with, Nissa travels home to ask The Fates if they can be  together. What happens? Makes you want to read this book?. I really don't want to spoil it for you. So go read it right now! :)

I really liked Nissa -  she was a fairy who was very sweet and truely cared for others. And for Levi and Nissa, it was love at first sight. Relationships usually don't go like theirs did and as quickly as it did but it made for a good read. I enjoyed reading about the fairies and their lives. Overall, this was a very light hearted book with just a sweet smidgen of romance. With all of the "hard" emotional books out now this was a breath of fresh air! It will make you want to read more.

We gave each other one more kiss before Levi took my hand and stated, 'Then let's get started, my love.'

4 Stars!!

Great review, Michelle! Nissa sounds like a fab character and I can definitely forgive love at first sight when it's a fairy tale story like this. Sometimes you want to read something a little too good to be true you know! :)
