Book Tour [Promo & Interview + GIVEAWAY] Watcher by Audra Middleton

Welcome Author Audra Middleton

Audra's love of writing began in the third grade, when she was chosen to go to a young author’s conference based on a story, The Dragon Cookie, which she wrote about a giant cookie that comes to life. She continued writing, and was sometimes asked to write
stories for friends as birthday gifts.

Audra went to college thinking she would go into journalism, but opted to go into publishing instead, and even took an internship at Yale University Press. Audra married right after college and was unable to find a publishing job where they were living in Seattle. Audra took an office job. After helping put her husband through law school, Audra went back to school and got her teaching degree. Audra enjoyed teaching, but once her oldest was born, she chose to stay home. At the encouragement of friends Audra started writing again, the result being her first novel, Watcher, releasing January 2013.

Audra and her husband with their three boys, now live in a small town in eastern Washington. They have a black Lab named Benji who eats shoes, gophers and packages left on her front porch (thanks Fed-Ex). When Audra is not chauffeuring and refereeing her children, she writes, dabbles in on-line shopping and plays Texas Hold ‘Em with her friends.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
I used to love butter brickle ice cream.  Anything butter flavored is good, plus it had little crunchy chunks of toffee candy in it.  Now I can’t find it anywhere.  It’s just a blissful memory.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Coffee with lots of creamer.  I am not usually hungry in the mornings, but I always need fuel.  When I do go out to eat for breakfast I order country fried steak with biscuits and gravy.  I don’t have to eat again the rest of the day, which is a good thing considering there‘s a week‘s worth of calories on that plate.

Night owl, or early bird?
I’m definitely a night owl.  I get most of my writing and other projects done at night after the kids go to bed.  I am pretty much non-functional until after my coffee in the morning.

One food you would never eat?
I saw that they make deep fried butter on a stick at the county fair now.  I’d never eat it, because it is sure to taste awesome and I can’t imagine something worse for me, health-wise.  I won’t even go there.

Skittles or M&Ms?
M&Ms - I’m always in the mood for chocolate.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I wanted to write and direct my own movies. I was bossy and liked to make up stories, so it seemed like a good fit for me at the time.  I obviously never outgrew my love for stories, but I’m definitely not Hollywood material.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
A vacation home at Lake Chelan would be nice.  It’s really beautiful all year round, and just far enough away to count as a getaway without a long, grueling car ride with my three boys.  Of course, I’d need two million to get one on the water…

Print or Ebook?
I will always keep a hardcopy of my favorites, but I am really sold on this ebook thing.  I can try out new authors for a reasonable price and my house has a lot less clutter.

What movie are you looking forward to this year?
I really enjoyed the first Hobbit movie, so I am looking forward to the next installment.  It’s one of the few non-animated movies I will go see in the theater.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is....
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin.  It’s a beautiful thing: entertaining, thought-provoking, exceptionally well-written.

What is next on your to read list?
I recently received a copy of Instinct, by J.A. Garland, and I’m anxious to dive into that one. I’m thinking I need to take a weekend off from my life just to get caught up on my to-read list.  There are a lot of exciting new books out there.

Any other books in the works?
Definitely!  I just finished a quirky little paranormal thriller, and I am currently working on a sequel to Watcher as well as a stand-alone romantic comedy.  The ideas keep coming, I’m just trying to keep up!

Thanks so much for having me on your site today!

Thanks! You’re awesome! :D
It’s been a pleasure!
