22465896Series: The Forbidden Doors #1
Release date: September 8th 2014
Purchase: Amazon

Synopsis via Goodreads:

Fifteen-year-old Piper Crenshaw knows her house is strange. It’s never needed repairs since it was built in the 1800s, and the lights flicker in response to things she says. As if those things aren’t creepy enough, it’s also the place where her mother committed murder.

To prove she’s not afraid of where she lives, Piper opens a forbidden door, which hides a staircase that leads to the ceiling. That’s when the flashbacks of the original residents from 1875 start, including a love affair between two young servants. Each vision pulls Piper deeper into not only their story, but also her house. Piper confides in her best friend, Todd, whom she's gradually falling for, but even he doesn't believe her. At least, not until her house gets axed during a prank, and the act injures Piper instead, cutting a gash the size of Texas into her stomach.

Piper realizes her house isn’t haunted—it’s alive. To sever her link to it, she must unravel the clues in the flashbacks and uncover the truth about her mother’s crime, before she becomes part of her house for good.

I was privileged enough to be given an ARC from the author.

Lately I've really been into creepy books. I've read a few but when I read the blurb for this blitz and saw the cover I was like oh my freakin' gosh! I've got to get this. And I was not disappointed in the least. Thanks to sweet Cortney, she sent me one over.

Creepy wasn't even a good enough explanation. I was drawn in from the first chapter and could not put it down. Every aspect of that creepy house had me intrigued and I couldn't read fast enough. From Piper hearing her dead dad on the TV to the house protecting her to seeing ghost from many many years ago and finding out what or who was really behind the whole thing I was turning pages so fast my Kindle couldn't keep up. :)

There's was just enough romance that it was sweet and the fact they were best friends first made it even better. Todd was the perfect companion for Piper and I was so glad when he finally got it about the house and she could tell him everything.

There's so much in this book I really don't want to give it away but if you like haunted/possessed houses, ghost(good and bad), serial killers. and a normal high school girl wanting to just fit in and not being able to because of her HOUSE, than YOU WILL LOVE THIS! Grab a copy right here NOW!! I LOVED it! And I can't wait until the next one comes out.
5 Stars EASY!!

The scariest thing that's ever happened to me was when I was really sick and I had a very high fever.

scariest thing that has ever happened to me was my mom dying from cancer.

I agree Steve. My mom passed away last August after an 8 year battle with cancer. SHe did not go easy, and I had to give her CPR, because we didn't know what was happening. She had a blood clot to her lung. I have never experienced anything paranormal, but still hoping.
