RELEASE DAY!! Love At The End of Days by Tera Shanley

Love At The
End of Days

The Apocalypse is coming…
are you ready?

Romance and zombies collide in the riveting sequel to Love in the Time of the Dead.

Year four into the Dead outbreak that ended the world and Vanessa Summers has been so burned by love, she swears she will never trust a man again. But Sean Daniels, guard leader of Dead Run River, isn’t just any man. When past lovers return to the colony, things get complicated. Desperate to rid herself of the heartache, Vanessa signs up for a supply run that will test her mettle as a guard in training. Sean volunteers to lead her team, and his hungry looks say it’s more personal than professional.
Danger comes from all sides as they scavenge Dead infested cities, and as her attraction for Sean deepens, Vanessa finds her head and heart at war with each other. He clouds her judgment, and any misstep could spell disaster outside of the safety of colony gates.
A race back to Dead Run River could save a team mate’s life, but trouble has been brewing back home. Laney Landry, the woman who broke Sean’s heart, is in trouble, and Vanessa must decide whether to take back the Denver colony beside the man she’s falling in love with, or bow out of an attraction that terrifies her.
Weathering Dead hybrids, betrayals, battles, jealousy, and soul consuming love, Vanessa must find her place in the team she’s found. And if she can, she might just master survival at the end of days.

REVIEW + Giveaway: Dead Over Heels by Alison Kemper

Dead Over Heels
Release Date: 09/29/14
Entangled Teen
269 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
The end of the world just might be their perfect beginning…

Glenview, North Carolina. Also known―at least to sixteen-year-old Ava Pegg―as the Land of Incredibly Boring Vacations. What exactly were her parents thinking when they bought a summer home here? Then the cute-but-really-annoying boy next door shows up at her place in a panic…hollering something about flesh-eating zombies attacking the town.

At first, Ava’s certain that Cole spent a little too much time with his head in the moonshine barrel. But when someone―or something―rotted and terrifying emerges from behind the woodpile, Ava realizes this is no hooch hallucination. The undead are walking in Glenview, and they are hungry. Panicked, Ava and Cole flee into the national forest. No supplies, no weapons. Just two teenagers who don’t even like each other fighting for their lives. But that’s the funny thing about the Zombpocalypse. You never know when you’ll meet your undead end. Or when you’ll fall dead over heels for a boy…
Buy Links:

Dead Over Heels was a fun, flesh eating zombie book. Once I got into it I couldn't put it down. But y'all know how I love my zombies!!

Ava's parents had bought a summer home in the mountains of North Carolina. While her parents were out on a supply run the worst thing that could happen did. The undead decided to start feasting on the living. When Cole her "redneck" neighbor that she couldn't stand, came knocking on her door to warn her that undead were in her front yard, she grabbed her purse and coat and ran into the cold woods that held so many things that could kill her and I'm not just talking about the zombies. With the help of Cole, they survived in the forest making their way to her mom, dad and safety in town. Along the way the sweetest love story unfolded.

Even though Ava was a city girl, I loved that she became a strong heroine. She reached down deep in grave circumstances and pulled out her BAD "A" self and took on those freakin' zombies, even when Cole couldn't help. Cole was a God send to her. He saved her life more than once. You could gradually see "in her mind" that even in crazy circumstances she was falling for that  "redneck" young man and he was for her.

I would love to see this book get a sequel and hear about their adventures later on. Dead Over Heels was a fun, fresh, zombie novel. I recommend it for any zombie addicts like myself. Because I devour anything zombie. The more brain eating the better. :)
4 Stars!! Loved it!

The knock on the door in the middle of the night would’ve pissed Vanessa off a lot more if she’d been anywhere near hibernation. Thick, flannel pajamas shielded her from the offending bite of the wind as she opened the door. Finn stood there, a stark and giant silhouette against the star-cluttered night sky.
“No thanks,” she said blandly. “I’m trying to cut back on my booty calls.” She tried to close the door, but Finn shoved his foot in front of it.
“Vanessa,” he growled in a hoarse and sleep-filled voice.
“Fiiine,” she groaned. “But no kissing. I can’t have you falling in love with me.”
She couldn’t be positive in the dim moonlight, but she was pretty sure his eye twitched.
“Grab your weapons,” he said, pushing his way into the room.
“Ooh wee, you like it rough. You’re dangerous and I approve.”
“Vanessa! Stop trying to be a pain in my ass and get ready. I have something to show you.”
“All right, all right, don’t get your panties in a twist.” She cracked an uncontrolled grin. “Do you want me to undress fast or slow?”
“I’ll meet you outside,” Finn muttered through her cackles.
“That was the last one, I swear!” Vanessa called as he slammed the door.
Five minutes, one pair of cargo pants, a thermal sweater, a jacket, a pistol, a rifle, and a pocket full of ammo later, and Vanessa was filling her lungs with frigid front porch air. Finn looked like he was asleep in one of the rocking chairs so she thoughtfully kicked his boot until he lurched awake.
“Let’s do this. I have PT in three hours.”
After a stretch and an under-the-breath oath, Finn led the way down one of the winding paths. The further they got away from the cabin, the more the sense of wrongness sent little, tinkling, warning bells off inside of her.
The woods of Dead Run River were magic at night. Small solar lights dotted the edges of the trails and could be seen through the trees like fairies sleeping on flowers. The closer they got to the front gate, however, the fewer lights there were to guide them.
“Finn, where are you taking me?”
“You’ll see. It’s show and tell. First I’ll show you. Then I’ll tell you.”
She threw a baleful glance at the quiet woods behind her. This was a bad idea, following Finn, the mysterious Yeti, into the forest at night. If she weren’t still battling the remnants of a moonshine headache, she would’ve remembered to ask for an explanation before she left her cabin.
It wasn’t until Finn led her all the way to the front gates of Dead Run River and ripped the engine of a small four-wheeler that she balked completely.
“Aw, heck no am I getting on that thing and zipping around Dead infested woods with no protection. Heck. Freaking. No.”
He held his hand out and commanded, “Get on.”
Crossing her arms, she refused. “This is the part where you’re pissed Mel went over you on the supply run decision, and you’re going to drop me in the woods in some effed up game to see if I can make my way back to the colony. Screw you, Finn. I’m not playing.”
“For the billionth time, Summers, you can’t talk to your commanding officers like that, or it affects your graduation score. I swear I won’t leave you in the woods. Now get on, or there won’t be a supply run. This little test was approved by Mel, and we both have final say.” His hand hung in the air between them, inviting her to hop on. Quiet steel laced his voice as he said, “Now, Summers.”
She denied his offered palm, her fists clenched in anger, and slid onto the back, holding onto his taut waist. “I swear if you leave me in those woods, I’ll kill you.”
“I won’t. Besides, it’s not me who needs killin’ tonight.”

Love at the End of Days –
Casting Couch

Hi, all! As you’ve probably gathered, the second book in the Dead Rapture trilogy, Love at the End of Days, is releasing. If you’re looking for an action adventure romance set during the zombie apocalypse, this book is going to be your jam.
I was asked recently, with a smile and a wink, when are the movies were coming out? And you know, that’s actually fun to think about! So in the vein of that smile and wink, I’m going to cast the future box office hit by casting the characters.

Vanessa
She’s a big one to get right, and the actress would have to nail her snark with a touch of bravado, while at the same time carrying her internal struggle and vulnerability that comes with surviving and finding her place in the apocalypse. And with her impressive acting chops and blond hair and bright eyes, who better to play Vanessa Summers than Amanda Seyfried?

Sean
Hero, leader, father, flawed human whose sole focus has been on saving the people around him until now. He’s struggling to find human connection as his focus shifts in this book. He would need an actor who can carry serious, and good under pressure with a nod to his wicked sense of humor. And those piercing blue eyes are a must. An actor who’s up for a heavy bout of this emotional growth? Liam Hemsworth, you’re my man.

Finn
Finn is a no nonsense tough guy with shoulders roughly the width of the broadside of a barn. He is Sean’s go-to guard for training new recruits and tackling supply missions. He was devoted to keeping Sean and his daughter safe at the Denver colony, and now he’s made the same oath at Dead Run River. Vin Diesel, shall I call you…Finn Diesel?

Laney and Derek Mitchell
Back from a year on the road, these two have big plans for their future. Little do they know they are about to be swept up in an unexpected adventure with the people they are beginning to see as family. Laney has to be tough but sensitive, and Derek Mitchell needs an actor who can pull off brooding, protective, and a witty sense of humor all at once. The Beauty and the Beast cast fits them perfectly and has already nailed their chemistry. Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, meet your future characters, Laney and Derek Mitchell.

BLOG TOUR [REVIEW + Giveaway!] RecruitZ by Karice Bolton (Afterworld #1)

RecruitZ
by Karice Bolton
(Afterworld #1)
Publication date: December 27th 2013
Genres: New Adult, Post-Apocalyptic

Synopsis:
Scientists are the new rock stars. The infection has been contained for nearly three months, and the world is celebrating. But humans are still dying. Rebekah Taylor has seen it firsthand. Her husband was killed right in front of her by the very creatures that humans were told they no longer had to fear.

Rebekah is determined to find out who is responsible for the death of her husband and the obvious cover-up. Fueled with revenge, she begins to find answers that lead to one frightening conclusion. The apocalypse might be over, but the battles are just beginning.

I really enjoyed this book. If you know me at all you know how much I enjoy the zombie genre and this book was no different. But I have to say this was a new take on this genre for me. Scientists had developed a vaccine to keep the living from becoming the undead. In the post apocalyptic world where the zombies were supposedly under control,  Rebekah Taylor’s world was turned upside down.  Her husband Gavin was ripped apart by zombies in front of Rebekah, and they didn't want anything to do with her. Rebekah is determined to find out what happened, who were these controlled zombies and she wants to get revenge!

Rebekah was the ultimate zombie genre heroine. She was a strong willed, head strong, zombie butt kicker. She was determined to figure out what was going on and one day she walks into a bar and finds a gorgeous guy who has also lost someone in a controlled zombie attack and he has plans for his very own revenge. Rebekah was so heartbroken and had had a hard time trusting others. But with time they joined efforts to find out who was behind the controlled zombies. Rebekah started to trust and the walls she had put up began to come down.

There was the perfect amount of romance. I love books that show the “falling in love’ part. This book was heartbreaking, gory, sweet, fast paced, and very enjoyable. I totally recommend this one to anyone and cannot wait until the next one.

VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR [Review & Excerpt + Giveaway] Dead Awakenings by Rebekah R. Ganiere

Dead Awakenings
by Rebekah R. Ganiere
Genre: Urban Fantasy Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Etopia Press
Date of Publication: 1/3/2014

Amazon      BN     ARe

Book Description:

Evaine, a struggling New York theater student, enters an unsanctioned drug trial in an effort to pay bills.  She awakens in a derelict hospital, chained to a bed with no memory of who she is, or how she got there.  A band of pale skinned men, led by the gorgeous Luca, burst in, whisking her away to safety.

Once at Haven House, Evaine is introduced to The Family. Like them, she has become A Deader, a reanimated Undead.

Luca is hell-bent on stopping the experimentations, and killing those responsible. He has no time for a Newborn who is struggling to control her rages, hunger, and powers. Nor does he have the desire to deal with the feelings she's awakening within him.

Despite their best efforts, Evaine and Luca find their connection intensifying when suddenly, she remembers not only who she is, but also her fiancé, Tristan; who is still looking for her.

Torn between her first love and her new heart’s desire, Evaine runs back to Tristan putting everyone in danger. When a rogue faction of Deaders, called Feeders, attempts to kidnap her, Luca suspects Evaine is the key to the experiments.

Can everyone band together to keep Evaine off the cutting table of those she escaped from? Or will second death tear her away from everyone, for good?

Have you ever needed money and thought about entering into a drug trial? Maybe you were in college and needed to pay your rent or maybe the power bill, that’s what Evaine did in DEAD AWAKENINGS. Well let’s hope you don’t end up like her - A Deader, a reanimated undead.  This book took the zombies genre and the undead to a whole different level. Usually we see the main character running from the undead, trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world, but in this book we are rooting for Evaine and her new undead “family”.

I absolutely devoured this book. There are always books out there that you enjoy and love reading and they keep your attention. But DEAD AWAKENINGS started with a blast and kept going. I didn’t want it to end but I couldn’t quit reading. It’s like I was watching a really long movie and then it was over and I enjoyed it so much I didn’t realize that the movie was 3 hours long. I would read parts and then go back and read them again so I could make sure I got the whole jest of the scene.

Evaine was a wonderful, kick-butt, well adjusted to her new life, heroine. At first you wonder how she can take it so well but then you think about her past life and what her home life was like then you could start to understand. And then there was Luca, gorgeous gorgeous Luca. He had put up so many walls since he had turned and Evaine was the sledge hammer that was needed to tear down those walls. There was such a connection between them from the beginning and then a love bond that no one could break, not even Evaine fiancé Tristain. I could go on and on about this book and the awesome storyline to find the people responsible for creating The Deaders but I would give it all away.

This is unlike any “zombie” book you have read or could read. I finished it and immediately tweeted Rebekah to see when I could get a hold of the next one. I cannot wait. I wish I could rate this more than my 5 HOOTS but for now I will just say 5+ HOOTS for DEAD AWAKENINGS.  And Rebekah, please hurry!!! I really can’t wait for the next one!!!

Warm, thick air filled Evaine’s lungs; it was going to rain. She gazed up at the clouds rolling in. They blanketed the sky like waves of dirty cotton. Stormy weather, her favorite, but she didn’t want to get caught in the rain today. The laundromat was a luxury she could not afford right now.
Picking up her pace she headed toward the office of Mac, her fine arts adviser. The wind picked up as she crossed the quad, and the first droplet of water hit her cheek. She pulled down the long sleeves of her worn-out shirt. The thin hoodie was about as good at keeping out the chill as paper would be keeping out a charging bull.
Evaine’s mind began to drift as she fought through students rushing to get out of the drizzle. Without permission, her brain turned to her overdue bills. Trying to live on meager grants and student loans was harder than she would have thought, considering how she’d grown up. Her rent had been due a week ago, and she wondered why her pitbull of a landlord hadn’t been banging down her door like the last million times her rent had been twenty minutes late. Not that the very small studio—hole—was worth what she paid. Maybe she would be better living on the street. She needed to come up with some cash, fast.
The voice of her mother, Phyllis, chimed in. Life would be easier if you’d let Tristan help out.
Sigh…Tristan. She absently rubbed her finger where the huge diamond ring he had gotten her rarely sat. She refused to wear it for the sheer size, not to mention that she didn’t want to let anyone know she was engaged at the age of twenty. Some people would think she was marrying Tristan Atwater for his money. Her mother had tried to teach her for years how to use her body to catch a man of means. But Evaine couldn’t stand for anyone to find out she shared even one shred of DNA with the woman who had birthed her. Phyllis had used every man she’d ever known. No way was Evaine going to take a penny of Tristan’s money to pay for anything until they married; and she didn’t think she would ever get used to it, really. She’d always prided herself for being able to stand on her own.
She refused to rush into marriage. Not in her second year of college, not even to a guy as wonderful as Tristan. The only man she’d ever loved; the only good thing to ever happen to her. He was her security blanket. The only person she had ever relied on and trusted. But she’d never let his money be her security. Between his trust fund and the money he made at his job he could more than pay for five penthouse apartments on Park Avenue. She may have been a foster system reject brought up in a trailer park, but that didn’t mean she had to act like one.
Couldn’t hurt to ask for a few dollars. Phyllis’s voice was again in her head.
“Hey, Evaine!”
The wind whipped her hair into her face as she lifted her head. “Hey, Jeff.”
“Where you off to?” He fell into step beside her.
“I need to see Mac.” She continued toward Mac’s office building.
Jeff was a sweet guy, not bad looking either, in a sort of geeky way. He had kind eyes and shaggy, curly surfer blond hair. His tall, lean frame had a nice build. For the second time since getting engaged she was reminded that she’d never even dated another man beside Tristan.
Last year when they'd done a rendition of Taming of the Shrew together, Jeff had been especially nice to her. He’d asked her out a couple of times. Every time she’d made up excuses about schoolwork or her job—anything. She hadn’t been sure what to say. No one knew about Tristan, and she wanted to keep it that way. She wasn’t ashamed of Tristan, by any means. She just didn’t like all the attention that came from dating him.
Most girls would brag about a rich VP of marketing boyfriend and a gigantic, five-carat diamond ring. But she was still wondering what Tristan had been thinking when he’d bought that lighthouse beacon for her to wear on her hand.

BLOG TOUR [Review + Giveaway!] DONNA OF THE DEAD by Alison Kemper

DONNA OF THE DEAD
by Alison Kemper
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Pub. Date: March 4, 2014
Pages: 250

Donna Pierce might hear voices, but that doesn’t mean she’s crazy. Probably.
The voices do serve their purpose, though—whenever Donna hears them, she knows she’s in danger. So when they start yelling at the top of their proverbial lungs, it’s no surprise she and her best friend, Deke, end up narrowly escaping a zombie horde. Alone without their families, they take refuge at their high school with the super-helpful nerds, the bossy head cheerleader, and—best of all?—Lance, hottie extraordinaire and Donna’s long-time crush. When Lance is around, it’s easy to forget about the moaning zombies, her dad’s plight to reach them, and how weird Deke is suddenly acting toward her.

But as the teens’ numbers dwindle and their escape plans fall apart, Donna has to listen to the secrets those voices in her head have been hiding. It seems not all the zombies are shuffling idiots, and the half-undead aren’t really down with kids like Donna…

As most of my readers know I am a HUGE fan of the zombie genre so whenever I have a chance to read one for a blog tour I jump on it and fast. I usually plan out the book elaborately in my head after I read the description. I know, I know,  I shouldn’t, but I think I’m not the only one. Am I? Anyway, most of the time I am happily surprised with the book and then sometimes it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Well, at least it’s not what I have made it out to be in my head.

Donna and her best friend Deke are on board a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, when they hear a broadcast from CNN about a outbreak of a virus that's decimated the world outside. This is bad. Right?  Obviously Donna doesn't think that way. She seems to be consumed totally with herself and being rude and obnoxious to Deke.

After having seen the first infected on board the ship they both take off leaving her dad and Deke’s grandmother locked on the boat. After some gruesome zombie killing and making their way to their high school where there are some of their fellows classmates hunkered down trying to survive by rationing the vending machine junk food. They join them while waiting for a phone call from her dad to say where they will meet them.

I thought it would be cool to be on a cruise ship during a zombie outbreak. Great idea but don’t get to excited, a few pages in they are off and headed to the school. I am in no way saying that this wasn't a good zombie book it just wasn't all I thought it would be. The characters where all kind of shallow but then again they are teenagers so I guess they were acting the way teenagers do. I didn't like Donna much at first. She was shallow, selfish, and bratty. But as the story went a long you watch her grow up in a lot of ways and start thinking of others more than herself.  This is not the best zombie book I have read but it wasn't the worst. After you get through the slow beginning it starts to really move a long and become a fun and exciting book. Even after all of that I still give it 4 HOOTS! Because I really enjoyed the last half of the book. :)
