by B. Kristin McMichael
Release Date: 02/01/14
200 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
Everyone has a past, but for most it isn’t as long ago as Seth Sangre. His past is literally thousands of years ago. Seth’s life led him to the present seeking something that might help him save his country from destruction. He has been in the present for over three years now and just found exactly what he has been looking for.

Mari had dreams that college will be a fresh start, one where she would start over and not fall for the good looking player like high school. Unfortunately for her, that’s exactly what ends up falling into her lap on the first day she moves into the dorms. Now she has to hold to her promise to herself and not fall for the handsome Seth. But he doesn’t plan to make it easy for her. Seth has already marked her as his next conquest. As the semester progresses, Mari learns that Seth might just have a life of his own that’s actually from the past.

Suddenly Mari finds her future along with her past put into question. She’s connected to Seth far more than she ever wanted to be and maybe the player isn’t who she thought he was. If Mari can trust her heart enough to follow him, Seth will lead Mari on an adventure of a lifetime and reveal family secrets she never knew existed.

Carnelian Main Character Profiles

Seth Sangre
Born: In rural India (or so his college application says)
Age: 19
Year in College: Second year
Major: Undecided
Goal in life: To find the one he was destined to find
About Seth: Seth Sangre is a player. He has been through many girlfriends (over a couple dozen in the past few years alone). He focuses his time mainly on hanging with his two brothers and playing football. He is the football quarterback at Morton Carroll College. Life revolves around sports and finding a girl that will answer his prayers. His background is a bit hazy, he was adopted from India and homeschooled until his junior year in high school. He was adopted by a very wealthy man and thus no one had ever questioned his background.

Marcella (Mari) Navina
Born: In Chicago IL
Age: 18
Year in College: first year
Major: Art History and Anthropology
-Science and looking for answers
-Freedom of making choices
-Any color that is not the bright red her curls are
Goal in life: To live a little before graduating and joining her grandfather in his historical artifact appraisal business
About Mari: Mari is a new freshman at college and is looking forward to the freedom of getting away from her life in Chicago. While it is scary to start over six hours away from home, Mari is actually happy to do so. Her life and future have been planned since she was a little kid and the freedom of college is her only, and last chance to be independent. While she does not look forward to joining the family business, her mother and grandfather are all she has, and she will continue the family business once she graduates. College will be the only four years of her life to have an adventure and she just might find a great one if she can let go of old feelings of distrust in the male species.
