Synopsis:
All things fall.
Even Witches.
Supreme in their dominion over seasons, storms, and sea, the Witches have forgotten the unmatched destructiveness of mankind. And among the weapons men seek are the magical songs of the Witches.
Lilette is one of the few who see the decadence and decay weakening the Witches. As an outsider amid her own kind, can she help them survive the coming war?
There are many words I can use to describe Witch Fall. Among them are heartbreaking and uplifting. Witch Fall is the third book in the Witch Song Series but it actually a prequel to the entire series.
There were so many ups and downs in this book I felt like I was on a roller coaster. The character’s lives would go up and then crash down so hard I couldn't even scream. Didn't have time to. I soon found myself trapped on that fictional roller coaster and there was no way I could get off.
Lilette, the main protagonist, is a brave woman and in exact words, a witch. Witches are women with powers to control the four elements through song, making them dangerous and desired “weapons”. She grew up without her family. Her mom and dad dead and her sister was nowhere to be found. The island where she lived thought women were beneath men and had no say so in their society. She was meant to marry the village leader against her will. Many girls in her situation would have just lain down and just gone with it. I wouldn't have half the courage she possessed in her situation. All Lilette wanted to do is escape and be free to live her life as she wanted to.
When Lilette finally realized her own power and that she could be an asset to the witches that where being held as weapons, the whole story changed. I was totally rooting for her to help free them and get away. She matures and changes from someone who was just thinking about themselves and just wanting to escape into someone who tries to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Another character was Jolin, at first I liked her, then I wanted to choke her and in the end she was a wonderful help to Lilette and a great friend. She was just being used by the witches higher up. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. :)
I was a little out of my comfort zone with this one and thought a few times about throwing in the towel. But knowing that I needed to “branch out” a little I pressed on and I am glad I did. I really enjoyed it. Like I said before I haven’t read the first two but would love to one day go back and read the others.

Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you stuck with it!
Lilette sounds like someone I would really like as an MC. I'm also fascinated by the with lore with the weddings and the history behind it all already! Great review, Michelle! Sometimes trying something out of your comfort zone introduces you to knew things that you didnt know you liked (like me and verse novels!).
