How (Not) to Kiss a Toad
Cindy Eller Book One
by Elizabeth A Reeves
Genre: Contemporary Fantasy/Paranormal
Cover Artist: Angela Nelson
Book Description:
Cindy Eller is a witch with a gift for creating decadent desserts highlighting the exotic and spicy flavors of her native Southwest. However, life isn't always sweet for this magical baker. All her life she's been cursed-- every man she's ever kissed has turned into a toad. Love isn't likely to come her way, she knows.
If that weren't a big enough problem, her 'curse' has come to the attention of the Council of Magic and she may never be able to use her powers.
Enter the perfect man-- handsome, sweet, and loves food just as much as Cindy does. It would seem to be a match made in Heaven, or is it?
Cindy isn't the only one keeping secrets.
With toads, cupcakes, romance, magic and ice cream, life never has time to get dull!
Legend has it that Elizabeth A Reeves was born with a book in her hands and immediately requested a pony. Though this story is questionable, it is true that books and horses have been consistent themes in her life. Born in Massachusetts, she was quickly transplanted to Arizona by a professor father and creativity-driven mother, who is the one responsible for saying "If you can't find a book that you want to read, write a book you want to read."
In her spare time, she likes to knit, weave, hatch chickens, and chase after her husband and four sons.
If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I’d be a healer so I could go around making people well again. I wouldn’t ever tell anyone that it was me, I would just heal them and walk away and they would be cured. I think that would be the most amazing ability ever—giving people back their lives.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Getting emails from people just begging for the next book in the series. It’s very validating to hear something like that.
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Magical mayhem and delicious desserts make for fantastic fiction.
Favorite food?
Chocolate. I’m a true-blue chocoholic.
What book are reading now?
A Lost Witch, Debora Geary. She’s amazing!
What’s your favorite season/weather?
Fall—cool weather. It’s ironic, because I live in southern Arizona. It’s HOT here (spelled H-E-L-L, hot). I don’t like the heat. I love cool weather and a stiff breeze and a little frost, thank you very much!
What was your favorite children's book?
Dealing with Dragons, Patricia C Wrede. It was the first non-Tolkien fantasy I ever read and was life changing. I knew what genre I wanted to write after that.
Beach or Pool?
Beach. The ocean is a living, breathing organism. It is magnetic and captivating. It also has sharks, which are pretty scary. I’ll hang out at the beach and swim in a pool!
What is one book everyone should read?
Doomsday Book, Connie Willis. It’s… epic. Beyond epic. Breath-taking. Skull-shiveringly beautiful.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’m working on five projects at the moment. More Cindy Eller books, some books featuring her sister, Goldie Locke, and a couple of secret projects. There will always be more books coming from me! My huge dream and goal for the future is to get a book on the New York Times Bestseller list.
