Surrender the Sky
by Meradeth Houston
Publication date: May 2nd 2014
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Gabby lives by two unbreakable rules: don’t expose her kind, the Sary, and don’t fall in love—too bad some rules are made to be broken.

When Gabby’s most difficult charge accidentally shoots her in front of a class full of students, the event exposes her carefully hidden identity. She shifts from looking like a normal teen to her secret Sary form, revealing her wings and the existence of her kind—immortals who try to keep people from committing suicide. Her incident attracts the attention of the next leader of the Sary, Jassen, who offers her an impossible bargain: she can keep her wings if she makes amends with those who know the truth. Things get more complicated when a rebel Sary, intent on exposing them to the world, starts interfering with Gabby’s work. And there’s no denying her attraction to Jassen, who is torn between his duties and his heart. With threats at every turn and her immortality on the line, Gabby has to find a way to save the Sary or surrender the sky forever.

REVIEW

I have never been a huge fan of the Angel genre and I don't read many of them at all but there is one author that writes books about the Sary, angels that are guardian angles of sorts, that I'm totally in love with and that happens to be Meradeth Houston.

If you would like to read my reviews of the first two book's by Meradeth, her first book COLORS LIKE MEMORIES is here. The second book THE CHEMISTRY OF FATE is here.

I have thoroughly enjoyed both the first books and SURRENDER THE SKY did not disappoint at all. Being raised in a Christian home I always knew there were Guardian angels and after reading Meradeths books I believe it even more. I love her writing. Once I begin one of her books I can't put it down.  I'm so glad every time she finishes one because I can't wait to see what the Sary do next.

In this story Gabby, a Sary, losses her charge after an incident at school. The Sary send a "clean up" team to "smooth over" what her classmates saw when she exposed her wings. Usually the exposed Sary is released and made to become human.  But when the future leader of the Sary, Jenson, arrived at her house she finds favor with him and says she can keep her wings only if she can meet a few conditions. Gabby falls hard for Jenson. Why not? He's a really good looking Sary, but there's one problem, she can't let him know because Sary can't be together. :(

There are great supporting characters in this book. Some we fall in love with others we want to choke. Gabby has a wonderful best friend named Bea who she can tell about her and the Sary. She's a great friend for Gabby to confide in. Leon, Jensons brother, is the "bad" Sary. He wants to tell the world who the Sary are and will stop at nothing even sacrificing Sary to do it. Gabby and Jensen along with Bea and a few others in the Sary "clean up crew" work together to protect the Sary and all they stand for.

There were moments I caught myself holding my breath, a few tears shed, and some definite happy moments. It was an awesome book. I love the Sary and their world. I can't wait to go back soon. :)

5 HOOTS For Surrender The Sky!!

AUTHOR BIO

Meradeth’s never been a big fan of talking about herself, but if you really want to know, here are some random tidbits about her:

>She’s a Northern California girl. This generally means she talks too fast and use “like” a lot.
>When she’s not writing, she’s sequencing dead people’s DNA. For fun!
>She’s been writing since she was 11 years old. It’s her hobby, her passion, and she’s so happy to get to share her work!
>If she could have a super-power, it would totally be flying. Which is a little strange, because she’s terrified of heights.

Wow this sounds like such a compelling read and I love how emotional it is. I'm not familiar with the Sary but I read up on it a bit from posts for this tour and it sounds like it would make a great series! Glad you liked this one, Michelle! :)
