Baxter Jacobs just survived the worst Sweet Sixteen in history: buried in a coffin, hunted down by assassins, and losing almost everything that mattered to her. She’s ready for some normalcy, but “normal” won’t play any part of this Time Bender’s future.

Now that the immediate threat is over, Baxter learns just how much the English Council expects of the newest Interred. The pressure has her seriously considering her uncle’s offer to take her to New York, especially since she thinks it will keep her Healer, Jack, from overusing his abilities. Knowing the New York Council’s ranks are filled with beings using dark powers, however, makes her hesitate.

Before she can choose, the decision is wrenched from her. Fissures in Time result in a new battle with an old enemy. Someone she thought she’d lost reenters her life, and she’ll discover a web of lies woven into the fabric of Time…lies only she can unravel. Baxter will have to use her growing abilities to try and reveal the truth, even if it forever changes the reality she knows.

"My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker."

But this isn't Rylee's story. It's mine. Before I lost my ability to think like an adult. Before my body became stuck between wolf and human. Before I knew the supernatural and Rylee even existed. This is the last of what I remember before I became a werewolf . . . this is the last of what is important to me. And the moments I fought so hard to hang onto. My name is Alex, and this is my story.

 **Short story 14k Words**

Rylee Adamson Interview

My name is Rylee. I don’t like it when people use my last name, it reminds me of where I’m from and the people who turned on me. I was adopted as a baby into a family where they couldn’t have children naturally. But when I was ten, my parents got a surprise. A miracle baby, a little girl with golden hair and bright blue eyes.
When I was sixteen, I was accused of killing her; our parents believed the police. But I don’t really want to talk about that as it was over ten years ago. I’m trying to let it go.
I’m a Tracker, a supernatural who can trace anyone’s life threads finding them regardless of whether they’re dead or alive. I prefer alive, dead is messy, but so often that is the case. I’m also an Immune, magic slides off me as if I don’t exist. That is handy.
Gods, I’m sweating here trying not to swear. Are you sure I can’t use at least one four letter word? No, of course not.
I never Track adults. They can bloody well take care of themselves. I only ever Track kids. Probably I’m trying to make up for not saving my sister. But I’ll leave that up to the psychologists out there to decipher my motives.
Alex is my buddy, a werewolf trapped between forms; half man, half wolf. Submissive, goofy and loyal to the bone he is the one spot of bright light in my life. I think you’d like him the best of the two of us. I know I can be a hard ass, I can’t seem to help it. But Alex has never met someone he couldn’t win over with a floppy wave of his oversized paws. He might not be the best back-up, but he makes me smile and in my world, that is enough.
Someone once asked me what it was like to Track kids for parents who had no one else to turn to, for parents who’d lost hope that their child would ever be returned to them.
This was my answer: It’s a weight and a responsibility that sits on me, I took an oath that I would never stop Tracking lost children. That I would put my life on the line for those who can’t save themselves, and that I would fight to my last breath to keep a child alive.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rock and a Hard Place (Book, #1)

Rock and a Hard Place

“I have something for you.” He had moved heaven and earth to pull this together.
“You do?” Her eyes glittered in surprise.
“Yup. Close your eyes and hold out your hands.” He couldn’t wait to see what she thought. Libby obeyed. Her dark eyelashes lay against her rosy cheeks. His heart beat in anticipation. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a white plastic bag, then glanced up. Her closed eyes changed to little slits.
“Hey, stop peeking!”
Libby squeezed her eyes closed and laughed. She held out her hands and waited. Peter pulled the slim item out of the bag and placed it in her hands.
“Okay, look.”
She peered at the shiny device and then back at him in disbelief. “You gave me a cell phone?” She stared at the gift. “You gave me a cell phone!” This time she yelled it.
Her excitement touched him. “It seemed like a good idea. You didn’t have a phone number to give me, and I really missed you. It’s gonna get harder to see you. I thought this way we could stay in touch and actually talk whenever we want.”
She closed her hand around the precious phone and turned pensive.
“Is something wrong?” He wondered what could have upset her.
“I don’t know if I should accept this.” She gazed up at him with large doe eyes. He couldn’t believe this. She needed to take the phone.
“We barely know each other, and, well…” Mischief lit her face, and he wondered what she was up to. “We’ve never even kissed.”
Peter paused and took a good look at her. He’d been wondering how to sneak a kiss; she just made it simple.
He tossed the umbrella aside and pulled her close. He let his fingers tangle in her wet hair and lowered his mouth to hers. He kissed her long and slow, taking his sweet time. Cold rain trickled down his neck as he savored each moment. Startled at first, Libby now matched his kiss. He enjoyed each touch of her tender lips.
He slowly pulled away.
“Now can you take the phone?” His forehead rested against hers.
“Yeah, I think so,” she answered in a breathy voice.
“I’d better be sure.” Empowered by their perfect chemistry, he leaned in for more. Her body melted against him. He wrapped his other arm around her and pulled her close.
“Wow,” she whispered, her eyes dark and smoky.
“Haven’t you ever been kissed before?” His eyes searched hers.
“Not like that.”

“I feel so naked,” Marti whispered while gripping her beach towel.
“That’s because you are naked,” Kayla giggled.
The full moon reflected off the water and the lights from the distant lodge glowed like a string of holiday lights.
“If I get caught, my mom is going to kill me,” Haley groaned.
“Come on. There’s far worse things we could get caught doing,” Brooke reminded her.
“Yeah, like the guys showing up,” Haley said.
They arrived at the sandy expanse and stood in a tight clump, staring at the water.
“Now what? Who’s going first? ‘cause I can guarantee it won’t be me,” Marti said.
“I’ll go. I don’t care.” Brook took a quick glance around before she tossed her towel aside and stepped into the water.

Unreap My Heart (The Reaper Series, #2)

“Did I really try to kiss you?”
He almost missed a step at the sudden change of topic. “We’re back to that?”
“I thought I was with Niko,” she said.
“I take it the experience wasn’t pleasant? Nikolas can do that to people.”
“It sounds like you hate him for some reason. Why?”
If it weren’t for the real curiosity in her eyes, Balthazar wouldn’t have answered her question. “We do things we’re not proud of. Nikolas more than most.”
“You know him.”
A statement with more truth in it than anything he could say. Everyone knew Nickolas. A little too well for more than most. There lay the problem. Arianne knew Nikolas as the teenage high school boy. Balthazar knew Nikolas as the take no prisoners Reaper who occasionally did D’s dirty work. Nikolas could have easily been third in the rankings, maybe even D’s right hand, but he maintained his Reaper of Georgia status to keep under the radar for the side missions he would be given. It baffled Balthazar that Arianne didn’t seem to know this about Nikolas.
“You’re in love with him,” he responded.
“Since I started high school.”
Nikolas? Entertaining love? From a human, no less. “And how’s that going for you?”

When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing. Today, she has four completed Young Adult novels.

Immortals (book 2 of Runes)
“I’ve asked it a gazillion times, and I keep coming back to me, my mother, my entire existence. My mother is a Valkyrie. Norns marked me when I was a child for their diabolical reason, so Valkyrie and Norn magic flows in my veins.”
He smirked. “So? That doesn’t mean you have to become one.”
“The Norns are after me, Torin. Just because you don’t remember things doesn’t mean I don’t. Dealing with them was horrible. I have to be prepared this time.”
He cocked his eyebrows. “I heard you stood up to them and accomplished something. Do it again. Show them you are one Mortal they can’t bully. Being a Valkyrie is a lonely, crappy existence. Being a Norn is even worse.”
His attitude stank, even though I knew about his loneliness. I was meant to take it away, complete him. The thought fueled my anger. Before I realized my intention, I poked him in the chest. “It’s only crappy because you are too pig-headed to change. You choose to be alone when you don’t have to be. You had a chance to make me immortal, and you took the moral high ground.”
He grabbed my finger. “I’d never knowingly sentence a Mortal to this life, not even one as lovely as you.”
That hurt. I yanked my finger from his grip. “I wouldn’t want you to if you got down on your knees and begged.”
Blue flames leapt in his eyes, which moved to my lips before locking with mine. “I don’t beg, Freckles.”
“You lost the right to call me that, Valkyrie. And FYI, if I wanted to, I could make you beg.”
He leaned closer, making me catch my breath. He smirked at my reaction. “I could turn the tables on you like that, Freckles.” He snapped his fingers.
I cocked my head. “Oh, is that supposed to scare me?”
“It should. In fact, get your lovely ass back in your car and drive as far away from me as possible.”
I swallowed, feeling reckless. “I’m not afraid of you, Torin St. James.”
He leaned even closer, his breath fanning my face. Memories of our kisses mocked me. I wanted to reach up, grab his face, and force him to remember, make him tremble and breathless.
“Just because I don’t like emotional nightmares with snarky little Mortal girls doesn’t mean I can’t take what I want when I want it and move on without losing sleep over it.”
Thoughts of kissing him disappeared from my head. Snarky little Mortal girls? I wanted to smack him. “You’re a jackass.”

Release Event [Excerpt] Haven by Laury Falter

Haven, Part I of the Apocalypse Chronicles
by Laury Falter
Release date: June 22, 2013
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age Group:  Young Adult
Event organized by: AToMR Tours

Book Description:
Haven, the first book in the Apocalypse Chronicles...

On an ordinary day in early September, Kennedy Shaw leaves for school unaware that within a few minutes the world she knows will be gone - succumbed to an outbreak of epidemic proportions. After finding a safe haven inside the security of her enclosed high school, she learns that four others have survived, one being a bold, mysterious transfer student from Texas whose unruffled demeanor harbors more than a cool interest in her. As they struggle to survive the dead fighting their way inside, will Kennedy discover there is more to life than survival? And will she and the others find a way to live in this terrifying new world?
Haven
The first Infected who came into view was balding. The half moon of white hair around the back of his head was severed in half by a gash that left his neck and the collar of his light blue business suit a crusty red. His hand on the railing was the same ruby color. The one coming up behind him was a girl in her twenties with bleached blonde hair and a tattoo that curled up the side of her neck. The Infected trailing her was a woman with an afro and oversized gold hoop earrings. There were more - I could hear their feet on the stairs - but they hadn't located me yet. Once they did, I knew nothing could tear them away. This was why I had the rifle pointed at Mr. Suit. If I hit him just right there was a possibility he would collapse against the wall and topple backwards, into the crowd, momentarily blocking the rest from advancing. That might buy me enough time to run for the next set of stairs and, possibly, to safety.
My heart was pounding so hard that I was afraid it would interfere with my aim, even at this short distance. The muzzle was bobbing so rapidly it reminded me of peaks on a hospital pulse monitor. As I'd been trained, I stopped, took a deep breath, and attempted to steady my heart rate. One of my dad's favorite sayings coursed through my mind, reminding me how to take an accurate shot and calming me instantly. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, Kennedy. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
As I contemplated my plan, biding my time to get the right shot off, something happened on the floor below. It started with a roar, which was odd because I'd never heard a single Infected roar. Then a commotion followed that caused Mr. Suit and the others to seek the source of the interruption behind them. Apparently, their judgment hadn't been so dramatically impaired that they knew enough to turn around. This took their focus away from me and I immediately stepped toward the stairs I'd been eyeing. But then I froze…because Ms. Afro had suddenly been yanked out of sight. I watched as Ms. Biker Girl prepared to lunge but also quickly disappeared down the stairs. Mr. Suit was then yanked away, his head snapping back as he vanished in the same direction as the others. Whatever was making its way up the stairs was cutting through the Infected like they were paper dolls. Then the turmoil came to a sudden end and the warehouse settled back into silence, with only the wind whistling through the openings in the building to fill the void. Beneath that hushed sound came another one. A footstep. It was sturdy, landing solidly and with intent. The sound came again. And again. And then there before me stood Harrison, chest heaving, eyes bulging, lips drawn back in a snarl.
My heart leapt at the sight of him, both because I didn't expect him to appear and because I didn't expect him to appear like this. What I saw in him was the same behavior so visibly obvious in the Infected. Only one word could describe them both: enraged.
"Harrison?" I whispered, which seemed to bring him back to me.
He had been inspecting the upper floor before his eyes stopped on me. He blinked and straightened out of his crouch, relaxing his face until it returned to the same gorgeous Harrison so familiar to me. He came forward, up the remaining step, but no farther, as hesitancy spread across his face. I was vaguely aware of it wavering as I found myself running for him.
Before I knew it, I was in his arms and my face was pressed against his firm chest and his warm, secure arms were encircling me.
"Kennedy," he whispered back, hoarsely, full of the emotion he held for me and vowed he would never show.

Told from various points of views, The Do Over is a story of second chances and new beginnings.

A.L. Zaun graduated from Florida International University with a degree in English Literature a long time ago.  A degree she didn’t use at all in her professional endeavors.  She loves to read, write and take pictures.  She walks around with her camera, and most importantly she has her e-reader available at all times.  Healthcare Management by day, Mommy in the evening and most nights, you can find her sitting in front of her laptop with a bottle of Diet Pepsi, bringing the voices in her head to life on the pages of her debut novel, The Do Over.

“What about my kiss?” She pouted with a hand on her hip.
My eyes were trained on her lips. They were begging for my attention, and I wanted to give it to them.
“Baby…” I took a deep breath. “If I kiss you now, I won’t be able to stop.”
I wanted her. There was no doubt about it. She drove me insane and turned me on. There was nothing more that I wanted than to be with her. From the moment I saw her until probably the day I took my last breath, my desire would burn for her.
She moved toward me with an exotic look in her eyes, almost like a tiger about to catch her prey. “I want my hello kiss.”
My girl liked playing with fire. Good thing that was my specialty.
“I warned you,” I said, keeping my eyes focused on hers.
I could feel my heart beating faster in my chest. I had to clear my head. I could just kiss her hello. I could do this. Although I couldn’t stop thinking about the other night, feeling her squirming under my touch, I reminded myself that she deserved our first time to be special.
Licking her lips, she smiled and let out a sexy laugh.
I was a goner.
