BLOG TOUR [Guest Post + Giveaway!] The Witch of Luna Hill by Neel Kay (The Witch of Luna Hill #1)

The Witch of Luna Hill
by Neel Kay
(The Witch of Luna Hill #1)
Publication date: February 14th 2013
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Synopsis:
A year ago, Aia was found dead in a lake. Fortunately, her rescuer managed to resuscitate her. But how she ended up in the water in the first place, she doesn’t remember. Actually, she doesn’t remember one single thing about her old life from before she died.

Now she lives her monotone life by the edge of the Great Forest in which she works hard day in and day out. Up there in Northland beyond the mountains, the war against supernatural beings, humans with strange abilities and all who side with them isn’t quite as visible as in the rest of Bragimark.

But when she meets Merian Storm, a privileged student trying to escape her dysfunctional family and the memory of the man she loved, Aia is jerked out of her comfort zone and thrown into a journey across the haunted mountains in search of her past.

When entering Merian’s war-torn home in the south, Aia’s role in the war becomes significant and so does her presence in the lives of the Storm family and vice versa – especially Merian’s rogue brother.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
I like ice cream. As in Rrreally like ice cream. Anything sweet, actually – I have a terribly demanding sweet tooth that completely ignores the desperate pleas from my rolls of fat to give them a break. So I’m not really that choosy when it comes to flavors of ice cream, but it also depends on the mood I’m in. But most of the times I would choose pistachio, blueberry or something slightly coffee-flavored. Maybe banana-chocolate…?

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Soft-boiled eggs. My grandmother always made me soft-boiled eggs when I’d spent the night at her place as a kid. And white bread with cheese. That is the best!

Night owl, or early bird?
Night owl, hands down. Have always been and will always be a being of the night. Even though I have a day job that requires me to get out of bed before 6:30 am, I cannot drag myself to bed early to get a good night’s sleep. But then I have small children, so I suppose I won’t get to sleep through the night any time soon anyway.

One food you would never eat?
Snails and bugs and the sorts. Liver and heart and tongue I’d never eat. Again. I have tasted it, but it was not to my liking. And brussels sprouts!!!

Skittles or M&Ms?
M&M’s. Never had a Skittle. My husband buys them sometimes, and then asks if I want a taste, and I look at them and think they look like something I would break my teeth on. So he gets them to himself. Maybe that is why he buys them?

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
Aside from the obvious of becoming an author? Well, once I had an obsession about fighter aircrafts, and wanted to become a fighter pilot. But it was something about women not being able to become fighter pilots, not back then. I don’t remember, but something ruined the dream, other than me being terribly unfit, and I decided I’d be the one fixing the aircraft instead, and stand out there on the hangars directing them in with the light stick things. I don’t even know what they are called – probably a good thing I let that dream slide.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
I would buy a plane ticket and fly to Norway to fetch my sister and then fly us to New York for a wild shopping spree.

Print or Ebook?
Either. I don’t mind. Although, I haven’t bought a real book since I found out that I could get a Kindle app for my Ipad and phone. It’s so easy – you just click and you can start reading immediately. I think that is genius, although a bit of a strain on my visa card.

What movie are you looking forward to this year?
Mockingjay part one. It has become a bit of a tradition for one of my neighbors and me to go see The Hunger Games films as soon as they hit the theaters.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is....
I don’t know. There are many books I love, but do I wish I’d written them? No, I’ve never thought that to myself.

What is next on your to read list?
Allegient by Veronica Roth. Just finished Insurgent.

Any other books in the works?
I’m working on a stand-alone fantasy novel called ZOE AND THE DEMON SLAYER. I hope to have it ready for publication in August. It’s about a book worm (Zoe) who suddenly finds herself in the dead center of her favorite book saga, but nothing is as she thought it was. After Zoe I have plans for the third instalment of THE WITCH OF LUNA HILL. It was only supposed to be a two-book series. But when I finished up book two (THE WITCH’S STORM), I felt there were some untied ends that needed attention, and I wanted to know more about what happened to the main characters – they had more to say. Whereas book two is a direct continuance of book one, book three will take place six years after book two ended.
