Listening to your inner voice can get you killed.
Ethan James, Florida Bowman and Jake Inala are three teenagers who receive much-needed organ transplants. Two weeks later they are inadvertently recruited by the CIA when a spy dies halfway through his mission. Three bacteria bombs are set to detonate, spreading illness and death across the planet, and it’s up to Ethan, Florida, and Jake to deactivate them.
Except that they have no idea where the bombs are located.
Kidnapped for information they can’t possibly know, and fuelled by the spirit of a dead CIA agent, Ethan, Florida, and Jake must look deep inside themselves if they are to finish the mission and save millions of lives. But they’re being held captive in a strange place by a man who believes in Feedback, the theory that information is retained in the memory of organs–in this case those of a certain dead CIA agent donor. And their captor will stop at nothing to get the information retained in their newly transplanted organs.

I love mine, though you wouldn’t know it from the way it gets crammed inside my bag the way my paperback books used to. Only now, because I’m older, my Kindle sits alongside practical things like an enviro-friendly shopping bag that unfolds as easily as a pop-up book but takes forever (or a child) to fold back inside itself , a snack bar for when the elevators break down and the thought of eating another human being is just a turn off, sunscreen for when the ozone finally melts the ice caps and everything else in its path, as well as whatever else I think I need to get me through the day. I hope everyone enjoys this little glimpse into a writer’s mind.
Twenty minutes under the influence of a writer’s mind
7.30am – Okay. Kettle boiling so should be able to write an outline for a guest post before have to pour water into my plunger. But what shall I write about? Topic. Topic. Topic. Think. Think. Think. Maybe should wait until brain has absorbed coffee before trusting it to think up amazing topic.
7.35am – Caffeine absorbing into system. Brain in gear. Now what shall I write about? Oh, goodie, camera is charged. Maybe should download those holiday photos. Stop procrastinating and start writing. Okay, bossy inner voice. How about a little help? What shall I write?
7.40am – Ah, thought so. Smug inner voice can’t think till eaten breakfast. Okay, let’s eat. But what shall I eat? Eat. Eat. Eat. Cupcakes sound good. Not for breakfast! Okay, sensible inner voice. How about a little help? What shall I eat? Cold chicken in fridge. Protein is fuel for the brain. Will need more power if I’m to get this post started. What about yogurt That’s sweet and tasty. Now we’re getting closer to the cupcakes I feel like. Hey, thought you said no cupcakes for breakfast. Okay, I lied. I always want cupcakes. I dream of cupcakes. I’m your inner voice for goodness sake. Where do you think your cravings for cupcakes come from? Good point.
7.45am – Quick bite to eat and back in front of computer to write a guest post. Must hurry to finish before Husband wakes up. Husband will cook bacon and eggs which I will eat. Two breakfasts, tut tut. Yes, will shamefacedly tell Husband have not eaten anything yet because I (dreamy sigh) waited till he got up so we could breakfast together. Liar. Shut up. Hurry up. You know what’s coming next. Yes. Husband will want me to finish renovations with him. Will have to stop feet from stomping down the stairs in annoyance at being dragged away from computer, because promised yesterday would finish the painting. Feel rather like a spy, all this sneaking around to write a guest post.
8.00am – Still no closer to thinking up brilliant topic for post. Distracted by cupcakes. Is it too early to bake? Never too early to bake. Bakers do it all the time. Yes, but not baker, writer. Writer who should be coming up with dazzling post to write for wonderful blogger who happy to promote new novel. What’s the title again? Feedback. What’s it about? You should know, you were there when I wrote it. Sorry, was dreaming about cupcakes. Tut tut. It’s about Ethan James, Florida Bowman, and Jake Inala and they need organ transplants. When they receive the organs of a dead CIA agent, Dylan Black, they take on more than the task of completing the mission of deactivating bombs that threaten millions of lives. Kidnapped, their lives under threat, the memories stored in the CIA agent’s mind begin to awaken within each of them, except the one piece of information they are abducted for - the location of the bombs. Sounds action-packed and exciting. And you are pretty experienced at all this spy business by now so no wonder elements of secret business have crept into your stories. Where can I buy it? D L Richardson was born in Ireland and came to Australia with her parents as a baby. She went to a public school in Sydney's western suburbs and the books she read were given to her or borrowed from the library. However it was music that first captured her creative interest.She joined the school choir at age eight and got her first acoustic guitar at age ten, although she really wanted a piano. In high school she took up lead vocals after the girl she was to sing a duet with failed to show up. After that she told her stage fright to get lost and took up singing with the school band where she performed in many concerts. When she left school she helped form her own rock band where she sang lead vocals, played bass guitar, and wrote all the lyrics. At age 26 she realized she wanted to write novels for the rest of her life or die trying so she sold her equipment, quit pursuing a music career and began writing instead.
She has two young adult novels published, "The Bird With The Broken Wing" and "Feedback" and is currently writing her third novel "Little Red Gem".
She lives in Australia on the NSW South Coast with her husband and dog. When she's not writing or reading she can be found playing her piano or guitars, renovating the house, or walking the dog.
