(The Angel Crusades #1)
Publication date: March 26th 2013
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Synopsis:
Book 1 in The Angel Crusades Series by CS Yelle

Britt Anderson went along with everything the doctors said for nearly four years, but she was still dying at eighteen. The cancer had won leaving her without a future, without any options, and without control. No control, except for how she would leave this world. As Britt tries to end her life by going into the frigid waters she realizes her mistake. She struggles to get back to shore, to cry out for help, but her atrophied muscles are useless and the frigid water steals the breath from her chemo-scarred lungs. Despite her father’s attempts to reach her, she flies over the waterfall.

When Allister Parks finds Britt’s fragile body on the riverbank something calls out to him. Ignoring the warnings of his sister, Allister brings Britt back from the edge of death. The only problem is that an Eternal like Allister isn’t allowed to touch those who have already passed from this world. It is forbidden; an infraction punishable by death.

As Britt relishes her new cancer-free life and senior year of high school, her very existence threatens Allister’s place in this world. Allister struggles to keep Britt a secret from the Eternal Council and out of the hands of the only Eternal who already knows the truth: the one who stole her guardian angel.

Favorite Fictional Couples in Books.
I’ve decided to name one couple instead of several since they all hold a common thread and that is what makes my favorite fictional couples my favorite.
The minute I say this couple, my Epic Fantasy roots are going to show and many of you might tilt your head and look at me like a dog hearing a strange sound. Facing that possibility, I take a deep breath and hesitate with my fingers hovering above the keyboard before I continue.
Kahlen Amnell and Richard Rahl from Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series.
I know what you’re thinking. What kind of intriguing couples can you have in an epic adventure? How can you get a feeling for a deep relationship when the characters are traveling all over a continent fighting evil and often separated by hundreds, if not thousands of miles?
These questions are valid as are the many more you might have pop into your head.
I truly believe that those who read this series will completely understand my sentiments and may even feel more fervently about this fictional couple’s connection.
The basis to my opinion stems from a very basic element that I’m sure all great fictional couples share and that is undying commitment to each other.
This romantic ideal is the groundwork that all fictional couples who come to my mind when I single these two out have. They are willing to commit to each other, not because it is easy, or right, most often, it is wrong, as in the case of Kahlan and Richard. But they have a bond tying them together and that bond may weaken and strain, but it never fails.
Even when faced with insurmountable odds and obstacles, these two never lose sight of what is important to them…each other. Even when everyone in his world no longer has memory of Kahlan do to a magical spell, Richard never stops believing in her existence even when the logical thing would be to do just that.
It isn’t that love conquers all, because that is just not the case, but love gives us hope for a better tomorrow and strength to carry on when quitting would be much easier. Love is that light at the end of the tunnel we strive for and know is worth waiting for.
I believe that this main element must be present to some extent in order to satisfy my ideals great fictional couples.
